UK Youth Parliament Candidates - West Worcestershire

Dec 17

West Worcestershire Manifestos (Worcester and Malvern Hills)

W1 Alex We face savage cuts.  Our Youth Services, our education, our future plans are all under threat!  There has never been a better time to stand up and be heard.  Protests are only one part of the battle.  To really make a difference, you need an experienced, principled MYP to take the fight into their offices, their board rooms and their House of Commons.  I can do that.  Vote for me, the future of our fight.
1.  Fight the fees!  £9,000 = scandalous.
2.  Protect our Youth Services!
3.  Making your views heard by Government.

W2 Rachael I would be a good member of Youth Parliament as I would stand for all kids, no matter what conditions their quality of life is.
1.  Getting children equal rights to adults.
2.  Reducing homework/course work for High School students.
3.  Reducing tuition fees as the money is only being used for the PM’s pocket money!

W3 Edward Big changes need to be made. Some big changes are needed in the education system. More engaging lessons are needed and I will try and make that happen. Tickets are another thing, We’re charged adult fares but not given an adult voice. The gap from the ages 16-18 where the government gives us higher prices because we don’t have anyone that will stick up for us. I want to stick up for you.  Most importantly, we have uni fees. Scotland has free uni and Wales’s fees aren’t going to change… What about us! Were important too! and for those not for uni, we need jobs! I want to give you a voice in the things that really matter!!!

1.Letting young people know what activities there are
2.Lowering transport costs
3.Get the youth listened to

W4 Oliver I have always been interested and good at politics. I like listening to other people’s opinions. My strengths are communicating with people and I’m open minded. I’m also kind and care about people and my environment. I’m confident to speak in public and I’m a happy person.

1. More jobs locally
2. Equal opportunities for people – race religion and gender
3. More youth facilities

W5 Laura Giving people the option to voice ideas and help their words turn into actions.  With new ideas, things can be changed for the better of the youth society.  Voices can be heard, it just takes the power to shout it.  Tackling different issues as they come, compromising and change it for the better. “We’re fighting for something good.”
1.  The police handling youths and young people.
2.  The bullying issues throughout the School’s.
3.  Self harming awareness support.
W6 James Is your future important to you?  Because it is to me and that is why I want to join the Youth Parliament and to put your views and opinions straight to the people who will take action.  I guarantee your voice will be heard.  I can and will make it happen.  Remember, it’s your opinion that counts.
1.  To lower the cost of transport all around, making it easier and cheaper for young people to get around.
2.  To improve activities available to young people and their facilities.
3.  To lower university fees so us as the young community will not be in big debt as we get older.

W7 Peter I would be a good Youth Parliament member because I would listen to every opinion and suggestion and try as best as I can to get the views into meetings.  I will also be the best representative for Worcester I can.
1.  Making transport for students and people 16 and below, free or cheaper.
2.  Environmental issues.
3.  Litter in and around the area.
W8 David Evans I would be a good member of Youth Cabinet because I have a lot to say about change to the world such as terrorism and the credit crunch.

1. Less homework
2. Phones in School
3. 2 weeks less summer holidays, 2 more at Christmas

W9 Cameron You have every right to be annoyed at Politicians at the moment e.g. expenses scandal.
It’ll never stop unless something is done.  I am an enthusiastic person who cares about issues affecting young people.  We can’t go around making promises that we can’t keep.  You’re the boss.’

1. Providing better facilities for young people for example game arcades, better equipped parks.
2.  Reduce negative stereotypes of young people.
3.  Reduce the cost of activities, fight against the cuts in youth activities.
